Something i found looking up other things...this is from 'tidbits of the bootheel' a really cool little handout from billings montana...these are just odd little facts you really have to dig for to find...for example...

Thieves in Europe were especially busy commemorating April Fool's Day in 1998. For starters an 18-ton bridge near Bytow, Poland, disappeared, and then in Liverpool, England, about 250 feet of a street--roughly 5,000 cobblestones--vanished without a trace.
Often, April Fool's jokes can have two installments. In 1998, a group of Fine Arts students at Britain' Leeds University received a grant for $2,000 to "challange people's perception of art." The finished product showed the 13 students taking a vacation at Spain's Costa del Sol resort, saying that this tested the limits of what could be defined as art. Needless to say, most of the grant donors demanded refunds; at which time, the students revealed that they hadn't gone anywhere, but had demonstrated the "art" of showing how gullible the press was. They had acquired tans, had staged beach snapshots, and generally, faked their holiday to demonstrate that it was painfully easy to fool the media.
